Puffin Puffin Passion

For this year’s Cup, we are directing our fundraising efforts toward enhancing habitats at the Musser Gap Greenway. With your support, we can bring some grassland back to central Pennsylvania, and in turn support the threatened and declining species that rely on them.

Hey all!

We are Puffin Puffin Passion, and we are so excited to join the Birding Cup Global Community this year!

We are a team of four friends who met at "adult summer camp" at Hog Island in Maine last September. As the week progressed, we knew we would be lifelong friends as we shared the joy and work of seabird conservation, specifically for Eastern Egg Rock, where Atlantic Puffins were reintroduced in Maine.

Our team also represents four states: Ryan is from Wisconsin, Aaron is from West Virginia, Jess is from New York, and Rachel is from Pennsylvania. In our states, we are all very passionate about birding, environmental stewardship, education, and all things supporting our wildlands!

After our trip to Maine, we kept in touch. In December, Ryan suggested we head down to Texas together for migration. We all agreed and started planning right away! While Ryan has been birding in Texas before, Aaron, Jess, and Rachel will be first-timers! We're staying in an Ebird Hot Spot Airbnb in McAllen and visiting various locations around there, such as the National Butterfly Center, Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, and, of course, South Padre Island!

While we won't be in the North this year for the Cup, we are thrilled to participate in this event and hope to snag some lifers along the way!
