About

Help Students Overcome Financial Barriers and Achieve Their Dreams

The Emergency Scholarship Fund supports Penn State Brandywine undergraduate students who encounter unexpected financial setbacks that threaten their ability to complete their degree. Your generous contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of these students by providing the temporary financial aid they need.

Our Mission

Your contribution will directly impact students facing financial difficulties, enabling them to overcome obstacles and continue their education. Your generosity will help ease their financial burden, ensuring they can focus on their studies and achieve their academic aspirations.

Why We Need Your Support

As of the 2021-22 academic year, nearly a third of our students come from low-income households, and almost 30 percent qualify for federal PELL grants, an indicator of high financial need. Approximately 70 percent of Penn State Brandywine students receive financial aid, but the average debt of graduating seniors with loans is more than $27,000. Your support will provide Brandywine an opportunity to address student retention and persistence. We strive to address financial challenges that prevent students from completing their degrees. As such, approximately 26 percent of students leave after their first year at Penn State Brandywine. Also, 78 percent of the students who leave Penn State Brandywine are succeeding academically but face financial concerns. In 2021, the most recent data set for Brandywine Student Unmet Financial Need, 50 percent of our student population met the criteria.

How Your Donation Helps

  • Tuition Support: Your donation toward tuition support directly contributes to ensuring that students can continue their education without the burden of unmet tuition fees.
  • Groceries: Many students face food insecurity, and your support ensures they have access to essential sustenance. Adequate nutrition positively impacts their overall well-being and helps them stay focused on their studies.
  • Living Expenses: Living expenses, such as utility bills (electricity, water, heating), are essential for students' well-being and comfort. Your donation for living expenses ensures that students can afford a safe and comfortable living environment, reducing stress and distractions that financial difficulties can cause.
  • Medical Help: By addressing health needs, your support helps students stay physically and mentally well, allowing them to focus on their academic goals.

Join Our Team

We invite you to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students. Your contribution, no matter the size, will help us achieve our goals and ensure that our students embark on an extraordinary college journey to fulfill their aspirations.
